Seoul Day 6 - Nam Dae Mun Market

Our second last day was supposed to be devoted to sightseeing at Gyeongbokgong Palace. But instead, we were sidetracked as we got distracted by Nam Dae Mun market which we didn’t intended to visit but happened to pass by.

One entire row of restaurants located at a back lane. But if you were to hunt for food, I wouldn’t recommend you to eat here as these places are targeting tourists like us.

Photobucket

Food on display looked tempting but really, they aren’t that awesome.

Photobucket

We simply picked one restaurant. If I could remember correctly, the prices ere are slightly more expensive too.

Photobucket

Anticipating some glorious food (false hope).

Photobucket

Katie’s attempt to go for the Korean look. Love the hair! Teehee.

Photobucket

Kimchi fried rice. Looks okay but was in fact tasteless.

Photobucket

Beef stew which was more like plain egg soup. The beef was way overcooked :(

Photobucket

Korean dumpling, the only acceptable dish.

Photobucket

Here we are, Nam Dae Mun market! It’s similar to Chatuchak market in Bangkok, except smaller. Lots of shops and stalls selling household stuff, souvenirs for tourists, accessories etc.

Photobucket

We got ourselves earrings and some awesome Big Bang merchandise!!! I’ve got Big Bang calendar and TOP’s posters all over my room now! Can’t possibly find these in Malaysia! *sheds tears of joy*

Photobucket

Katie’s similar purchase. She’s a huge fan of 2NE1!

Photobucket

It was really cold at Nam Dae Mun so we dropped by Shinsegae to keep warm.

Photobucket

Photobucket

The daily yumcha session. Café Manna this time.

Photobucket

My favourite green tea latte!

Photobucket

Crystal-like sugar.

Photobucket

Her pink iPod that assisted us throughout the trip by showing us map and tips.

Photobucket

My love looks ghostly pale under the camera flash XD

Photobucket

Continued our adventurous battle with the cold outdoor.

Photobucket

Hotteok stall! One of the must-try street food!

Photobucket

Only 1000 won each. It’s some kuih thingy with sweet sauce thingy inside.

Photobucket

No joke, it’s the best street food we have tried so far! Our favourite of all. The next time you visit Seoul, don’t ever miss out Hotteok!

Photobucket

Breakfast at Tiffany. Yea right, if only I were elegantly dressed like Audrey Hepburn.

Photobucket

Bbopki – sugar lollipop with cute stenciled shapes. I guess it tastes like 麦芽糖?

Photobucket

Look at this greedy girl! Can barely hold on to all the food. HAHA. The corn there is really different! To our surprise, they’re really chewy in a good way. So unlike the usual corn, they don’t get stuck on our teeth even when we take a big bite straight from the stick.

Photobucket

Tornado potato!

Photobucket

Wonder how it gets twisted around the sausage. Super yummy!

Photobucket

Went back to the hotel and got ready for NB2. It was our last night in Seoul, our last chance to club so it had to be epic! Anyway here’s some entertainment for you. Another lamp, another lamp, another lamp, another lamp. LMAO!

Photobucket

It was a Sunday night. But the club is open every day throughout the week.

Photobucket

Wearing our new outfit.

Photobucket

How do you like my H&M dress? :)

Photobucket

Glittering dress for the party! Noticed we still had our wrist band attached? It had been on our wrist since 2 nights ago cause we kinda hoped it would gain us free entry. But it was a weekend wristband for Friday and Saturday only XD

Photobucket

Okay don’t ask me why we didn’t take any photo in the club. We were having so much fun it kinda slipped outta our mind.

And the rest of the night is a mystery. Unless if I were to contribute my story for Hangover 3. Teehee.

Big Bang - BLUE English translation:

the winter had passed

and the spring has come
we have withered
and our hearts are bruised from longing

(i’m singing my blues)
used to the blue tears, blue sorrow
(i’m singing my blues)
the love that i have sent away with the floating clouds, oh oh

under the same sky, at different places
because you and i are dangerous
i am leaving you
one letter difference from ‘nim’^
it’s cowardly but i’m hiding because i’m not good enough
cruel breakup is like the end of the road of love
no words can comfort me
perhaps my lifetime’s last melodrama
now its final curtain is coming down

i was born and i met you
and i have loved you to death
my cold heart that has been dyed blue
even with my eyes closed, i can’t feel you

the winter had passed
and the spring has come
we have withered
and our hearts are bruised from longing

(i’m singing my blues)
used to the blue tears, blue sorrow
(i’m singing my blues)
the love that i have sent away with the floating clouds, oh oh

i feel like my heart has stopped beating
you and i, frozen there, after a war
trauma, that has been carved in my head
once these tears dry up, i will moistly remember my love
i’m neither painful nor lonely
happiness is all self-talk
i can’t stand something more complicated
it’s no big deal, i don’t care
inevitable wandering, people come and go

i was born and i met you
and i have loved you to death
my cold heart that has been dyed blue
even if you have left, i’m still here

(i’m singing my blues)
used to the blue tears, blue sorrow
(i’m singing my blues)
the love that i have sent away with the floating clouds, oh oh

again tonight, underneath that blue moonlight
i will probably fall asleep alone
even in my dreams, i look for you
and wander around while singing this song

(i’m singing my blues)
used to the blue tears, blue sorrow
(i’m singing my blues)
the love that i have sent away with the floating clouds, oh oh

(i’m singing my blues)
used to the blue tears, blue sorrow
(i’m singing my blues)
the love that i have sent away with the floating clouds, oh oh

CNY with the Loves

Semester 4 starts today. As usual, the first week of class is full of crap, what with the lecturer going through the course outline and ended up telling his mundane life stories. Just had my first lesson this morning, and now I have plenty of time to spend until the next lecture at 3.30pm.

Thought I should do a short update before killing my time by reading the unfinished Harry Potter. I’ve been taking forever to finish the Order of the Phoenix. Every time I thought of reading the book, I get distracted by 9gag which is making me more idiotic and less intelligent. Wtfreak.

Here are some photos with the bffs Katie and Jess taken during CNY. We were at Jess’s grand villa XD

Photobucket

They said I was wearing the sluttiest cheongsam ever. During one of the house visit, my granduncle even called me 黑龙江的中国妹!What kinda relative is this? Damn mean :(

Photobucket

We can haz accessories. Teehee.

Photobucket

On another day at Katie’s beautiful garden. We all decided to wear heels that day. So used to ahbeng and bangla on the road whistling at us we don’t give a damn anymore.

Photobucket

This photo is just so cute and funny I had to post it! Dunno wtheck they were doing but it’s very wrong the way I see it. LOL.

Photobucket

Last but not least, a photo with le family on CNY eve! Taken with BB so it’s a bit blurrish. Look how tall my brother has grown! He used to be this little mushroom head boy we enjoyed bullying. HAHA!

Photobucket

Oh, I would be delighted to know that I’ve inherited my parents’ non-aging gene. Hiak hiak.

Seoul Day 5 - Epic Shopping

Everywhere in Seoul, you’ll see Paris Baguette – a brightly-lit bakery with a wide variety of delicious looking pastries and cakes on display. It became one of or must-visit spot ever since the beginning. So on Day 5, we went to the nearest Paris Baguette for brunch.

Photobucket

Cutest coffee cup ever with Japanese costume! Somehow it made the latte tastes more bearable. Not sure whether it was the effect of the previous clubbing night or the latte really tasted like alcohol. Yikes!

Photobucket

Delicious bread!!!

Photobucket

Coffee and bun with the bff on a blissful morning. I wish we could do this everyday!

Photobucket

Bacon and egg roll da yums!!!

Photobucket

The sausage which I assume is pork is so much better than our sausage back here! Crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Malaysia, Y U NO HAVE PORK SAUSAGE BUN???

Photobucket

Egg and ham sandwich was yummy too! In fact everything there was yummy!

Photobucket

Proceeded to shop at Ewha Women University Fashion Street again after brunch. For the number of shops and the amount of cheap clothings, it has defeated all the other shopping destinations and became our favourite shopping spot.

Photobucket

Already bought one big bag of clothes from the first shop we entered! Wondered how the day was going to end. Tsk tsk.

Photobucket

The usual coffee break halfway through our shopping session. This time we tried out C’lucy.

Photobucket

They sell plenty of cake!

Photobucket

That awesome feeling when you temporarily escaped the winter and pampered yourself with a cup of hot coffee inside the warm café. I never knew that feeling until my Seoul trip.

Photobucket

Resting before continuing our mission. Gotta love the wifi in every café there otherwise I would be lost without Twitter and FB. Wtfreak.

Photobucket

Meanwhile these are our shopping bags. Madness! Now I remember why we needed a coffee break aside from the cold. I just couldn’t handle the heavy shopping bags anymore!

Photobucket

So many types of sausages!

Photobucket

Me likey ^^

Photobucket

I know it’s gross to say this but we always stained our gloves eating all these street food. The weather was just so damn cold we couldn’t possibly remove our gloves without our freezing our fingers! But it wasn’t exactly easy gripping hold of the snacks when we had our gloves on. Haiya wait till you go there and experience it yourself then you’ll know.

Photobucket

For dinner, we decided to enter a restaurant which was almost full. So many customers, for sure it would be good eh?

Photobucket

The Korean menu on the tissue box.

Photobucket

Requested for their English menu and thank goodness they had one. Unlike in our country, not every restaurant would provide non-Korean menu.

Photobucket

She was pointing at the extra spicy marinated chicken galbi. I don’t think we ordered that though, especially not after our encounter at Ebiko Curry XD

Photobucket

Yoogane’s marinated chicken galbi.

Photobucket

Can’t wait for it to be cooked! Whenever the waitress walked away, Katie would attempt to stir and cook it, then the waitress would come back after a while and do it instead, making her feel guilty for attempting to cook. But I told her the waitress must be the one feeling guilty thinking that she didn’t do a good job serving the customers lo. Teehee.

Photobucket

Our chicken galbi with add-on rameon!!!

Photobucket

Such humongous portion! We almost finished it cause it was so yummy! I’m not a chicken person but this one was tender and very well-marinated. Chicken has never tasted better!

Photobucket

More shopping after dinner.

Photobucket

This time we were at Hongdae – an area around Hongik University which was livelier after dark.

Photobucket

Somehow we ended up at Hello Kitty Café which we failed to locate the other day.

Photobucket

Pink pink pink everything pink!!! I’m not a Hello Kitty fanatic but still, I love this café!

Photobucket

But for a concept café like this, of course it would be pricey. We didn’t enter though since it was closing soon and we were still full after that giant wok of chicken rameon.

Photobucket

When I first saw this I was like holy shit is that a wolf?! But then it was so fluffy and cute and tame and all omgosh I just wanna cuddle it! The photo isn’t doing it any justice cause it looked so much bigger in real. Haven’t seen a dog like tat before.

Photobucket

Back to our hotel with big pile of shopping bags XD

Photobucket

Oh by the way, strawberry milk actually tastes good and not even a bit like the cough syrup I had when I was a kid.

Photobucket

Okay I know you can’t wait to see the stuff I bought. Lemme show you my epic purchase! ALL OF THESE IN 1 DAY!!! XD

Photobucket

Really, I have no idea how I managed to buy so much but I must say I am really proud of myself. HAHAHAHA. What’s more, none of them are impulse purchase and I like them all equally!

Katie’s purchase might seem very little in comparison but the fact is, she bought quite a lot too, just less crazier than me wtfreak. Mostly black because that’s her style at the moment. Teehee.

Photobucket

That’s all for Day 5. One day my epic shopping would become legend. . .waitforit. . . dary! LOL.
